Powerlifting

Powerlifting consists of three different lifts, the deadlift, bench press, and back squat.

We are just getting our powerlifting program off the ground but we have a great understanding of how to program and the competition rules.

This is open to all ages who are just interested in learning these three movements. You may combine memberships, for example, the athlete may do CrossFit along with Powerlifting. They may also be eligible to do all 3, CrossFit, Olympic weightlifting, and powerlifting.

This class will be structured and running on 2-day a week cycle for an hour and a half each, athletes will first learn proper form with a PVC pipe before moving to a barbell no matter the age. After they have successfully learned the movements with a PVC pipe, then they will move onto a training bar and then continue from there depending on their progress. Since we will be running a cycle, it is pertinent not to miss too many classes in one cycle, everything will move up in percentages and we want the athletes to peak at certain times. If the athlete gets behind then the cycle will be less effective for them.

If the athlete is supplementing their powerlifting with CrossFit then they will get more time on the barbell itself, CrossFit will act as their accessory work. It is suggested but not mandatory, if they are only interested in powerlifting then they will spend about 30-40 minutes of their time doing accessory work.

This sport is good for everyone, you do not have to be 'strong' to start, everyone will start in the same place and then from there everyone will succeed in their own ways. This is a great self-esteem/confidence booster and it is a fun way to get active.
